Mitigating greenhouse gas emissions from waste treatment through microbiological innovation
نویسندگان
چکیده
The emission of greenhouse gases (GHGs) from the treatment municipal, agricultural and industrial waste occurs in virtually every city on our planet. This is due to various microbial activities at different stages treatment. Traditional methods have a significant environmental impact, producing methane, carbon dioxide nitrous oxide emissions, addition demanding high energy input having low efficiencies. To address these issues, Australian water sectors are shifting towards adoption next-generation, carbon-neutral options. Here I discuss current knowledge gaps mitigating GHG emissions streams, with focus wastewater plants. highlight application real-time genomics identify sources monitor mitigation efforts, assist process operation guide plant operations. also emphasise recent innovations processes that capture upgrade them into higher value products. Ultimately, combined effort across disciplines required proactively mitigate global threat climate change.

Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Wastewater Treatment System
Besides its great potential in controlling water pollution from different sources, waste water treatment system generates significant amount of greenhouse gases. Hence, reducing the emission of greenhouse gases from the wastewater treatment plants is the major concern. The correct understanding and estimation of the greenhouse gases emitted from different points of the plan is essential to tack...
متن کاملGreenhouse gas emissions from rice
Rice provides the staple food for over 60% of the world’s population. Globally 80% of rice is grown by small farmers in low income and developing nations, and in India rice farming is a key source of employment for the 60% of Indian workers still dependent on agriculture for work. Yet rice production is also an important source of greenhouse gas emissions, for example responsible for between 3 ...
